An alternative view on the True Detective finale

We fawned over it and got into it and pored over its symbolism like many other people around the world, but I took a bit of break from the internet around the time of its finale and didn’t really get around to doing a big, serious series round-up (which would have been just about the most complimentary thing you would have ever read in your life). So, when one of my best friends emailed me asking if it was ok if he could write a little piece on the True Detective finale, I was all in on the idea. She then told me her views¬†might not tally with my own positive¬†opinion. Again, not a problem – TV is subjective and totally up for discussion. So here we go… the one they call The Wivenhoe Watcher’s take on the True Detective…

Trailer: Wallander, Series Three

krister_2336522bOnly a couple of days to go now until the third and final series of Wallander, the show that the BBC describes as “the one that started it all”. There isn’t much you can argue with when someone says that (it has, after all, kick-started the whole Scandinavian influx of dark crime dramas), and the trailer (after the jump) looks suitably wrought and hand-wringy. It’s interesting to note that the first episodes in each of the last two series of Wallander have been premiere in cinemas in Sweden. Now that would be a heavy experience.
