Interview: Charlotte Spencer, Glue

TinaE4’s new, Jack Thorne-penned thriller, Glue, starts tonight (Monday 15th September) and it’s well worth a watch. It has been described as Skins meets Broadchurch, which is fair enough, and is a beautiful exploration of what’s like to be young person growing up in an isolated British village. It boasts an impressive ensemble cast, led by Charlotte Spencer, and include one member of Rizzle Kicks. Forget that it’s a ‘youth’ drama – there’s much to like here. Review: The Suspicions Of Mr Whicher (S3 E2/2), Sunday 14th September, ITV

After last week’s tremendous tale set amongst the grime of the docks of London (review here) we were off to the countryside in the second episode of this (very) short series. Whicher had been tasked with tracking the wife of Sir Henry Coverley, a stern-faced Wiltshire squire. What he had to report made Sir Henry’s face crease with anger – his wife, Lady Jane, had indeed been seen in the company of another man, and Whicher was required to hang around in rural Wiltshire to be a witness in the consequent divorce case. It remained to be seen whether you could take the private inquiry agent out of the city, but not the city out of the private inquiry agent. Continue reading
