One of the more fun crime dramas out there is Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. Set and made in Australia, it’s based on Kerry Greenwood’s novels and is brilliant entertainment. It revolves around the personal and professional life of Phryne Fisher (Essie Davis), a glamorous private detective in 1920s Melbourne. Essie Davis is perfectly cast as Phryne, possessing as she does a sharp bob, high cheek bones and just plain high cheek. Our lady sleuth sashays through the back lanes and jazz clubs of Melbourne, fighting injustice with her pearl handled pistol and her dagger sharp wit. The good news is that she’s back for a third series and it’s coming to the UK.
UKTV crime drama channel, Alibi, has carried the first two series of Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and this morning confirmed that it would be broadcasting the third this autumn. The channel announced that Wednesday 28th October is the date the third series starts.
