The very first story this website uploaded last February detailed news of a new series called 100 Code, starring Dominic Monaghan and Michael Nyquist (see the story here if you don’t believe me). The series has been gestating and filming for a while now, but now it’s ready to go. There has been a big sales push, which has seen the series already premiere on Sky in Germany and HBO Nordic. This is good news but there’s still no word on where it’ll end up in the UK.
Our friends over at Scanoir reported that the series could be in line for home on BBC4, although nothing has been confirmed just yet.
The series, which is based on Irish author Ken Bruens’ novel Merrick, is set in Sweden where young women have been turning up dead in a field of asphodel flowers over the course of 12 months. It centres on New York Detective Tommy Conley who, through a special dispensation from the NYPD, is permitted to observe and advise the Stockholm PD.There,he is paired with veteran homicide detective Mikael Eklund,a by-the-book Swedish nationalist with an aversion to American’s grab-and-go culture. Both hate each other but have to learn to work together to stop the killings’.
Shooting of a second season begins in November and the show stars Michael Nyqvist, Dominic Monaghan, Peter Eggers and Charlotta Jonsson.
The series has already premiered across parts of Europe, so we await our turn. But one thing has struck me – because of Sky’s exclusive deal with HBO in the UK, and the series airing on Sky Deutschland, I’m wondering if the series will end up on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
Here’s a trailer to remind us of what it’s all about:
