We’ve done quite a lot on Midwinter Of The Spirit – the new three-parter that starts this week – and we’ll do some more ahead of its premiere on Wednesday. One thing’s for sure – it’s well worth a watch and is genuinely creepy and scary, as well as having a murder to solve. Elsewhere, the brilliant Hinterland continues and there’s a new radio drama to get stuck into – BBC Radio 4’s 10-part adaptation of CJ Sansom’s Sovereign.

And they just keep on coming. It seems there’s a new crime drama starting every week on Britain’s main channels. In fact it’s not not just some random perception, it’s the truth. YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH. Well, yes we can. The next biggie, From Darkness, will start on Sunday 4th October, and it stars the always-excellent Anne-Marie Duff as ex-constable Claire Church, who has fled her dark past by escaping to the remote Western Isles with her partner, Norrie. But no matter how far she runs, she can’t escape the shadows cast by her history. As decades-old bodies are unearthed on a Manchester building site, the darkness threatens to fracture Claire’s life once more.
