At the end of the colossal and brilliant Great British Bake Off final on BBC1 last night (what must our US readers think? The country’s top-rating show is a cooking contest about baking cakes?), the channel sneaked in a new trailer for the upcoming one-off Victorian episode of Sherlock, to be screened at Christmas. It wasn’t just a little tease or just some fancy titles. Oh no, this was a proper trailer that lasted a full minute and a half and contained proper snippets of action. It looked fantastic, and it’s after the jump for your perusal.
“The stage is set, the curtain rises. We are ready to begin.”
“Every great cause has martyrs, every war has suicide missions and make no mistake… this is war.”
With the mist-filled London streets, horses and carriages, all the old, familiar faces in Victoria garb, this one-off special certainly looks the part. And, with its inference of secret societies and war and all the bad things that go with those things, it could be a cracker.
