One of the things I remember growing up in the 1980s was the Nancy Drew Mysteries. Along with the Red Hand Gang, it was one of my favourite shows. The fact that it was American added to its allure (this was a pre-internet world so anything outside of the UK felt slightly exotic), but I was hooked on the adventures with Nancy and the Hardy boys. I remember lots of hair. It ran from 1977-79, but was a staple on these shores in the early 1980s. Fargo round-up: Noah Hawley unworried by True Detective comparisons; behind the scenes reports
We keep saying it but we couldn’t be more excited about the second series of Fargo, which starts on Monday 19th October on Channel 4 (in the UK). Over in the US it has already started and the reviews have ranged from good to stellar, some going as far to say that Noah Hawley’s continuation of the Coen brothers’ original story might be the best TV drama of the year. And that’s after one episode. Bold statements indeed, but it’s not surprising – series one touched greatness from time to time, its mix of the farcical and macabre beautifully balanced. Trailer: Unforgotten, episode two
We’re at the episode two stage of Unforgotten, the six-part cold case procedural starring Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar. Which is nice. In tonight’s instalment we see that after having identified the body in the cellar as Jimmy Sullivan the search for his murderer begins, Cassie (Walker) and Sunny (Bhaskar) investigate, starting with identifying the names featured in Jimmy’s diary.
