Not so long ago, this site reported that Fargo would be getting a third series, which was marvellous news. If the first series was terrific, the second has, in some ways, been even better. Since the news broke that showrunner Noah Hawley would be getting together a third series, speculation on which era the show would be set has been rife. Hawley has now revealed a few nuggets that might answer a few questions.
At this stage there isn’t much to go on, but the chronology of the series so far has been interesting. We got a modern-day fable first, starring Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton, and then went back 40 years for this second series, which stars, among others, Patrick Wilson and Kirsten Dunst.
So it’s anybody’s guess when series three will be set.
“It’s more contemporary,” Hawley told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s set a couple years after season one.”
“There are going to be connections, the way the first year was connected to the movie and the second year was connected to the first, but I think part of the fun is figuring that stuff out and I wouldn’t want to take that away from anybody. There will be definitely things that connect to something in our story.”
We can’t wait.
