720x405-cubaRyan Murphy’s American Crime Story anthology series kicks off with The People v OJ Simpson, and because of the nature of the subject matter, it’s already hotly anticipated. There has been speculation as to where this 10-part series would land in the UK, and now we have the answer – BBC2. And, what’s more, it’s hoped that the show will be broadcast in the UK soon after its 2nd February transmission in the US.

The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story takes us inside the OJ Simpson trial with a riveting look at the legal teams battling to convict or acquit the American football legend of double homicide. Based on the book The Run Of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson by Jeffrey Toobin, the series explores the chaotic, behind-the-scenes dealings and manoeuvring on both sides of the court, and how a combination of prosecution over-confidence, defence shrewdness, and the Los Angeles Police Department’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt.
It’s obviously more of a legal drama, which we tend to stay away from, but the story and the cast makes it a must-watch.

The stellar cast includes Cuba Gooding Jr as O.J. Simpson, John Travolta as defence attorney Robert Shapiro, David Schwimmer as defence attorney Robert Kardashian, Sarah Paulson as prosecutor Marcia Clark, Courtney B Vance as defence attorney Johnnie Cochran, and Bruce Greenwood as Los Angeles County District Attorney Gil Garcetti.
