A few months ago we posted a story saying that a new version of the Nancy Drew mysteries was in the works (read it here), and that a major US network was behind the re-imagining. Now we have a bit more flesh on the bones – the series is indeed going ahead, with Nancy now a thirtysomething NYPD detective.
TV Insider reports:
The network has ordered a pilot for Drew, a contemporary take on the iconic amateur sleuth. In the CBS version, Nancy—who is in her 30s—is using her extraordinary observational skills to solve crimes as a NYPD detective. Grey’s Anatomy/Madam Secretary vets Joan Rater and Tony Phelan are the writers/executive producers, and Dan Jinks is attached as an executive producer. The pilot comes from CBS Television Studios.
We’ll see how this pan out, but I’m curious about this, npot least because Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys was one of my favourite things in the early 1980s when I was growing up. This new version will, I’m sure, will be very different.
