Bloodline adds Angela Riseborough to season two cast

ff0c183c2205610177d5c35010f288b60720701dFor many, last year’s Bloodline was Netflix’s best-ever drama, which, when you consider its output includes House Of Cards, Jessica Jones and Daredevil, is a bold statement. It starred Kyle Chandler, Ben Mendelsohn (who’s been getting some serious exposure thanks to his appearance in the Star Wars: Rogue One trailer) and Sissy Spacek, all part of a tense family drama. We met the Rayburn family, who own and runs a beachside hotel in the Florida Keys. When the oldest son and black sheep of the family, Danny (Mendelsohn), returns home for his parents’ celebration of their 45th year running Rayburn House and the scheduled dedication of a pier in their name, he quickly causes turmoil amongst the clan, who have a dark past. When Danny gets caught up in the criminal world, he threatens to bring down his entire family and their legacy. It was quality viewing and now, with series two on the horizon, some new casting news has been announced.

On top of John Leguizamo, British actress Angela Riseborough (who’s really excellent) has joined the cast.

Deadline reports:

The actress will play the series-regular role of Evangeline, a street-wise and unpredictable woman from Danny Rayburn’s past who has some unfinished business with the Rayburn Family.

Riseborough joins fellow Season 2 newbie John Leguizamo, whose character, Ozzy Delvecchio, also shares a sordid history with Danny.

CfgKMv8XIAEbqK3Last month at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, Glenn Kessler confirmed that Emmy-nominee Mendolsohn would be back in Season 2 as a full-fledged regular despite Danny’s murder in the Season 1 finale. “There’s a very important story that we’re interested in telling that includes [Danny],” he explained. “We’re going to learn more about Danny’s effect on the family and more about his past, and also what his effects are in the present day.”

IBTimes adds:

Riseborough will play Evangeline, a wild card, street savvy woman from Miami, where Danny was living before he returned home. Evangeline will turn up in the new episodes looking to tie up some unfinished business she had with the recently-murdered troublemaker.

Look out for the new series of Bloodline in the next few months.
