We had another good game yesterday, featuring tournament favourites The Bridge taking on Wales’ Hinterland. In the end the underdogs were no match for the Swedish powerhouse, and The Bridge romped away in the end. Today we’re back in Group C, where seeded team Happy Valley are back in action.
Yesterday’s game might have been quite close, and it was for a short while, when Hinterland caused The Bridge some early problems. But it wasn’t long before Noren and co stamped their authority on the fixture:
The Bridge 83%
That means Group B looks like this:
The Bridge (P2 W2 L0 POINTS 6 WM +151%)
Shetland (P1 W1 L0 POINTS 3 WM +23%)
Hinterland (P2 W0 L2 POINTS 0 )
Cenk Batu (P1 W0 L1 POINTS 0)
Now, today’s game, which sees England’s Happy Valley take on Italy’s Inspector Montalbano:
REPRESENTING ENGLAND: HAPPY VALLEY
Form guide: A tricky selection this, with plenty of others showing strong form and pushing their case for representation (Line Of Duty can feel particularly hard done by, for instance). In the end, Sally Wainwright’s tale of northern noir won out. It features a strong central striker in Cawood – an old-fashioned number-nine targetwoman, if you like – who likes to out it about a bit and get results anyway she can. More often than not she achieves what she sets out to do, thanks to a bloody-minded streak. It’s not just Cawood though – there’s an impressive supporting cast, especially Cawood’s sister Clare Cartwright. Happy Valley will be relying on this familial relationship to score points on the field.
REPRESENTING ITALY: INSPECTOR MONTALBANO
Form guide:Having one of the most popular players in the tournament, Salvo Montalbano, might not be enough for this show to proceed further than the group stages. A solid team enough, with an excellent diet envied across the continent, look for the show to win a few games.
