The Killing Times’ Euro 2016 Of Crime Drama: SEMI-FINAL 1: Spiral (France) v The Bridge (Sweden)

Standard

EURO2016The business end of any tournament throws up some tantalising fixtures as teams battle for the coveted prize. The Euro 2016 Of Crime Drama is no different, and today our first semi-final pitches Spiral from France against The Bridge from Sweden. Two crime drama heavyweights up against each other for the first time with a place in the final at stake. Let’s go!

The final quarter-final took place yesterday, and saw Denmark’s The Killing take on Scotland’s Shetland. This was the result:

The Killing 81%
Shetland 19%

So that means The Killing will play in the second semi-final tomorrow, against Happy Valley.

Now then, onto today’s first semi-final:

SPIRALREPRESENTING FRANCE: SPIRAL (SEEDED TEAM)
Form guide:
Out of all the teams in the tournament, Gallic series Spiral boasts arguably the best team. It’s led by the indestructible Laure Berthaud, and backed up by the faithful Gilou Escoffier, the wily Francois Roban and the dazzling Joséphine Karlsson. Sadly, Pierre Clémont is unavailable for selection for this tournament (and all future tournaments).

THE BRIDGEREPRESENTING SWEDEN: THE BRIDGE
Form guide:
One of the favourites, The Bridge caused controversy because of deciding to represnt Sweden, despite its heavy Danish connections. This team features one of Europe’s most dangerous strikers. Saga Norén has an intensity and instinct that makes her hard to stop, and she forms an irresistible partnership with Martin Rohde (who caused yet more controversy when he decided to represent Sweden for this tournament, despite actually being Danish), while out on the wing newcomer Henrik Sabroe provides a fresh take on things. John Lundqvist in the middle of the park is dangerous, too. The big question mark is whether Rohde, who has been out of action for a year, will make the team in time.
