Adrian Lester and Iwan Rheon join Sky’s Reviera

Sky_Logo_seit_Dezember_2015Hold onto your hats because this relatively quiet period is about to come to a jolting end in a week or so’s time. We’ve got some, big, exciting things coming up (news of those tomorrow), but in the meantime channels are planning ahead for the future (when aren’t they?). Today Sky announced additions to the cast to its flash, new drama, which already has Hollywood star Julia Stiles attached to it.

Riviera is a 10-part series that has all the right pedigree. It was created by Oscar-winning director Neil Jordan from an idea by U2’s manager Paul McGuinness, which is fairly crazy to be begin with.

Stiles plays Georgina, newly married to billionaire Constantine Clios when he is killed in a yacht explosion. She is shocked to discover the fortune that maintained his immaculate, ever-so-tasteful lifestyle is tainted with dishonesty, double-dealing, crime, and ultimately murder.

Helped by Constantine’s first wife, Georgina will undergo an education in lying, double-dealing, outright theft and shocking criminality. She has to learn fast to maintain the Clios mansion and save the family from its enemies and from itself.  Hiding her bloodstained fingers inside Chanel gloves, she soon reveals herself to be an A-plus student in the brutal art of survival.

According to Deadline, Stiles is being joined by Adrian Lester (always excellent) and Game Of Thrones’ Iwan Rheon.

Sounds like a fun, flashy, high-concept project, and a very swish location in which to have that fun is.

The word is that Riviera will be on our screens sometime next year and it will likely air on Sky Atlantic.
