I did promise two Hans Rosenfeldt-related stories today, except this one took longer to produce because today turned into a busy old day. Earlier there was a story that detailed Rosenfeldt confirming a second series of ITV’s Marcella (read that here), and during the past few days the Swedish showrunner has also been speaking about series four of The Bridge, mere days after broadcaster STV had confirmed a fourth run. What he said makes for interesting reading.
This is what Rosenfeldt told Swedish newspaper Expressen, which was quoted by The Local:
We all went into the fourth season to finish it, not least Sofia who has an enormously tough schedule, away from her family for six months. So we said: if we’re doing another one it will be the last one
We’re changing countries for the investigation itself. It has always been Sweden-based but now it’s going to be Denmark-based.
There’s going to be a case to solve and then both lead characters will have a personal journey, and the less I say about that the better, I think. But one small detail is that we’re going to find out where Saga got her Porsche from.
There were obviously questions as to where series four was going to go, and now we know, at least geographically. I wonder whether the fact the investigation will now be based in Denmark, it opens things up to include Martin. I know, it’s a daft question and one I’m sure Rosenfeldt is sick and tired of hearing, but fans still ask me if Martin is going to be involved at all before the show ends.
Still, we get to see where that Porsche comes from, which is exciting enough in itself.
