I’m still not sure what Fearless is – is it more of a legal drama or a pure crime drama with legal elements? – but I’ll relay news of its production here for now. Especially when you look at the cast ITV has assembled for it. Helen McCrory (so excellent in Peaky Blinders), takes the lead, and the network has announced that another heavyweight has joined the cast.
Sir Michael Gambon will star alongside McCrory in the six-part drama.
Actor and comedian John Bishop also joins the cast, along with Emmy nominee Robin Weigert (Jessica Jones), Jonathan Forbes (Catastrophe), Wunmi Mosaku (Dancing On The Edge) and Jamie Bamber (Marcella).
The brand new series follows Emma Banville (McCrory), a solicitor known for defending lost causes, as she investigates the killing of a schoolgirl in East Anglia and tries to free the man she thinks was wrongly convicted of the girl’s murder. However, as she digs ever deeper into the case, she begins to sense powerful forces, in the police and the intelligence services at home and abroad, who want to stop her uncovering the truth.
Other acting talent confirmed for the drama includes Christine Bottomley (In The Club), Rebecca Callard (Ordinary Lies), Emma Hamilton (Mr Selfridge), Kika Markham (Secret State), Jack Shepherd (The Politician’s Husband), Sam Swainsbury (Mum) and Rick Warden (Happy Valley).
Fearless is written by Homeland writer and executive producer Patrick Harbinson. More news as we get it.
