The 10 Best Crime Dramas This Week (Monday 10th – Sunday 16th October)

624It’s another change-over week this week (as it will the next), as a few series have come to an end, and a few notable ones start up. This week we have the final episode of the superb and harrowing National Treasure, while series two of The Missing starts, as well as the final series of Ripper Street and a new Dutch crime series over on Walter Presents. 1 The Missing *NEW UK PREMIERE SERIES*
A British woman found stumbling through the streets of Eckhausen in Germany is revealed to be Alice Webster, who was abducted from the same town 11 years earlier. Her re-appearances sends shockwaves through the community, as her family are thrown back into turmoil by the renewed search for her kidnapper. However, police are convinced the returned Alice also holds vital information about the whereabouts of a second missing girl, Sophie Giroux, whose case was initially investigated in 2003 by French detective Julien Baptiste. As Alice’s now-separated parents find themselves drawn into a fresh investigation, Julien is in Iraq, searching for a clue he believes could be crucial to identifying the abductor.

Spector’s recovery is proving slow, and when his legal team springs into action, Gibson is more desperate than ever to ensure justice is served – especially after receiving a late-night visit from his last victim, Rose Stagg. Meanwhile, Spector and his nurse Kiera grow closer, while his wife Sally Ann reaches breaking point.

3 National Treasure *NEW UK PREMIERE EPISODE* *SERIES FINALE*
Paul and his family head for court to face the accusers and await the verdict. Paul has his own ideas about how to proceed, and in defiance of Jerome’s recommendations, is determined to take the witness stand himself and give his side of the story. However, it seems that Karl may hold the key to determining the outcome of the trial. Dee starts to suspect that Marie’s faith in her husband’s innocence may be wavering and that even if he is innocent, their marriage may not survive.

Hours before retirement, the defence calls Detective Box to the stand, while at Rikers, Naz’s discovery has fatal consequences.

5 Ripper Street *UK PREMIERE SERIES*
We’ve just finished the linear TV premiere on BBC2, but now the final series of the Victorian crime drama premiere on Amazon Prime.

6 Framed *NEW UK PREMIERE SERIES*
Based on the award-winning novels of Charles den Tex and focuses on software consultant Michael Bellicher (Daan Schuurman), whose idyllic life becomes a nightmare when someone steals his identity and he is framed for the murder of a colleague. However, what initially appears to be an ordinary case of cyber-crime is in fact part of a terrifying international conspiracy, involving a group who are determined to unleash a civil war between Muslims and Christians.

7 Ängleby *NEW UK PREMIERE EPISODE*
The building project is shut down when multiple bodies are found buried in the field, while Therese makes an important discovery about the mysterious boy on a bicycle.

8 Paranoid *NEW UK PREMIERE EPISODE*
Bobby arrives in Dusseldorf to join the German police investigating the murder of Ruben Locana, found stabbed to death in his swimming pool not long after the murder of his ex in a playground in Cheshire. Coincidence or conspiracy? Meanwhile, the team’s attempts to identify the Ghost Detective are complicated by chief inspector Michael, whose interference forces the elusive investigator underground, and chasing a lead has catastrophic consequences for one of the detectives.

9 The Level *NEW UK PREMIERE EPISODE*
Nancy visits the latest suspect, garage owner and Le Saux associate Duncan Elliot, where she spots Theo Kettler’s missing car. A tense chase ensues and after the driver escapes, Nancy and O’Dowd begin to suspect Gunner of complicity. A vital piece of evidence is later recovered from the vehicle, giving DCI Newman a breakthrough – but placing Nancy in even greater danger. Meanwhile, tensions surface among the Le Sauxs when Hayley and her brother Tate inherit the haulage yard.

A possible witness to a double murder is arrested, so Jane goes undercover in prison to befriend her so the team can track down those responsible.
