A while back I bought you news of a new three-part drama from the BBC, Rillington Place (see the original story here), which was to chronicle the story of 1950s serial killer, John Christie. We didn’t know back then about any cast members or even a transmission date, but it has sneakily entered the schedules with full cast details and plotline. The good news is that it’s just around the corner and will be here just in time for Christmas…
The drama is presented over three episodes from three different perspectives, as our characters’ lives tragically converge at 10 Rillington Place.
John Christie and his estranged wife Ethel are reunited after a nine-year separation and move into 10 Rillington Place. As war breaks out, the fractures in their relationship begin to reappear, with deceit, suspicion and violence never far below the veneer of married respectability.
John Christie is played by Tim Roth and Ethel is played by Samantha Morton. Add to that duo Mico Mirellegro and Jodie Comer (so excellent in Thirteen) and it’s an excellent cast. That’s a pretty fantastic central cast, right there, and I can’t wait to see this – the photos look atmospheric and the story itself looks as though it has been handled innovatively.
Rillington Place: Tuesday 29th November, 9pm, BBC1
