Readers may have been watching Walter Presents’ Norwegian series Frikjent (Acquitted) recently. One of the supporting cast in that show is Tobias Santlemann (who plays Erik Nilsen, brother of main character Aksel. He also appeared in ITV’s Marcella in this country, and The Last Kingdom), but now news reaches us that Norway’s main channel – TV2 – has hired the actor for the leading role in a brand-new crime drama, starting in the autumn.
In Grenseland (Borderland) Santelmann plays policeman Nikolai Andreassen, who gets entangled in the investigation of a suicide. Nikolai soon realises that there is talk of a murder, and suddenly he is faced with a dilemma that challenges his moral principles.
Santelmann describes his role character Nikolai as, “a complex guy with big secrets. In Nikolai’s world there are clear limits to what is right and what is wrong. But he is being pressured to disregard his moral compass, and he moves farther and farther into darkness. It is in this darkness I find most food as an actor. Nikolai has everything I look for in a role.”
More news as I get it.
