The 10 Best Crime Dramas This Week (Monday 27th February – Sunday 5th March)


broadchurch_s3It’s a big week in the world of crime drama, with two huge series starting on ITV – the return of Broadchurch and the start of Prime Suspect 1973, which takes us back to Seventies east London and a young Jane Tennison. There’s also Scandi larks with the second series of Follow The Money on Saturday, German series Nick’s Law on Walter Presents and more from SS-GB. Enjoy!

David Tennant and Olivia Colman return in the third series of Broadchurch, alongside a new cast of characters played by the likes of Julie Hesmondhalgh, Lenny Henry and Georgina Campbell. In the opening episode, DI Alec Hardy and DS Ellie Miller are called in to investigate a serious sexual assault.
Monday 27th February, 9pm, ITV

2 Prime Suspect 1973 *NEW UK PREMIERE SERIES*
A 22-year-old Jane Tennison is thrown into a brutal murder enquiry when the body of a teenage girl, Julie-Ann Collins, is found in the underground car park of a Hackney housing estate, while the family of local crime matriarch Renee Bentley are shaken by a violent attack on her.
Thursday 2nd March, 9pm, ITV

Archer tracks down Spode, who confesses to murdering his brother before taking his own life, leaving Huth furious. As the resistance and the German form an alliance to free the King from imprisonment, Archer’s priority is recovering the atomic bomb documents. A roll of film found on Spode’s person appears to contain the missing calculations, but further investigations prove dangerous when Archer comes under attack from the rebels, narrowly surviving an attack on the Underground and a bombing at Highgate cemetery.
Sunday 5th March, 9pm, BBC1

Mads is intrigued by the seemingly trivial case of a small carpentry business that has gone bankrupt under mysterious circumstances. Claudia is released after 18 months in prison and receives a visit from Energreen’s old chairman Mr Christensen, while Nicky has become an apprentice to the Swede ‘P’.

Dr Khatri attempts to cover her tracks when Michael presents the scientists with a miracle, while Dan and Elena relive their trauma.
Thursday 2nd March, 9pm, Sky Atlantic

6 The Kettering Incident *NEW UK PREMIERE EPISODES*
Anna discovers more about the boy with strange markings, and Dutch grows suspicious of Roy.

Grief-stricken after the loss of his wife and unborn child, ex-Navy Seal-turned-detective Martin Riggs moves to California to start afresh at the LAPD. He’s paired up with veteran detective Roger Murtaugh, who’s just coming back to the job after a near-fatal heart attack. Riggs’ penchant for diving headfirst into the line of fire soon clashes with Murtaugh’s prudent by-the-book technique and his life-on-the-edge attitude makes him a priority case for the department’s psychologist.

9 The Brokenwood Mysteries *NEW UK PREMIERE EPISODE*
The annual wine show is a major event in Brokenwood and no one is looking forward to it more than DI Mike, the recent buyer of a 10-acre vineyard. However, when a guest judge and wine critic are found dead, drowned inside a fermenting vat, the show takes second place to the murder investigation.

10 Stan Lee’s Lucky Man *NEW UK PREMIERE EPISODE*
Harry’s investigation into a wave of hate crimes leads him to a religious cult, while an unconfirmed sighting of Golding in London puts him on edge and he is forced to take measures to protect his family. Plus, Isabella tests the detective’s will power when she meets him in a casino.
