Fargo releases first trailers for series three

Not only is it a brilliant series, I just love the way US network FX stokes up publicity for its Coen brothers-influenced series, Fargo. More often than not, it releases the most intriguing and delicious little nugget-trailers. They don’t reveal much, but they’re so exquisitely made they set the mood perfectly. And, in fine Fargo style, FX has released a new teaser – no longer than 30 seconds, it still whets the appetite.

So, here’s the first little one the network released five days ago:

Again, no more than a mood setter. But yesterday the network revealed a little more…

What’s interesting about this one is that we get our first look at Ewan McGregor in one of his two roles, and, at a guess, it’s Ray Stussy – a pot-bellied, balding parole officer who peaked in high school and blames his much more successful brother Emmit for his misfortunes. There’s also a glimpse of Carrie Coon as Ray’s girlfriend Nikki Swango, a crafty and alluring recent parolee with a passion for competitive bridge. And, and, and.. oh look, there’s Carrie as Gloria Burgle, the steady chief of the local police department.

All looks present and correct for another fantastic fable.
