ITV announces transmission date for series seven of Vera

ITV’s adaptations of Ann Cleeves’s best-selling Vera Stanhope novels have attained national treasure status, largely thanks to the brilliant Brenda Blethyn in the lead role. Now the series is back for a seventh run, and Vera and her team are drawn into four new mysteries, including the death of a wildlife ranger left alone overnight on a remote and inaccessible island. ITV has announced the transmission date.

Set around Newcastle and the stunning Northumberland countryside, Vera features complex and intriguing cases, atmospherically-shot landscapes and captivating performances, led by BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actress Brenda Blethyn as the unorthodox but brilliant DCI Vera Stanhope.

Brenda is reunited with co-stars Kenny Doughty, Jon Morrison,  McEwan, Christopher Colquhoun, Lisa Hammond and Riley Jones.

Other actors joining them across the four new stand-alone films include Suzanne Packer, Robert Pugh, Ace Bhatti, Struan Rodger, Annie Hulley, Emily Joyce and Steve Evets.

Vera: Sunday 19th March, 8pm, ITV

Look out for an interview with Brenda Blethyn nearer to transmission

HELL yes. Blethyn is brilliant and perfect for the role. I can’t read a Vera Stanhope mystery without envisioning her as played by the consummate Brenda. Fantastic show, wish the series would go at least 6 wide. But that’s just me, bein’ greedy pet.

Love Vera!!!! We only get it on pbs, Saturday night, used to be Thursday, she’s so mean & bossy, but you know she’s got a heart, just love her shows, always watch the reruns too, ours are usually a year after they come out anyway, keep up the good work!!
