The podcast that I’m working on has now released three episodes. A Stab In The Dark, which features award-winning crime writer, Mark Billingham, as host, has welcomed in Ian Rankin, and Belinda Bauer and Sarah Hilary so far. This week’s third episode – released yesterday – features multi-award-winning crime writer Laura Lippman, creator of The Wire, David Simon, and multi-award-winning crime writer, Megan Abbott. Full details after the jump.
In the wide-ranging chat, Mark discusses Laura and David’s time as crime reporters on The Baltimore Sun, how David spent a year with the Baltimore homicide unit researching his first book, Homicide: A Year On The Killing Streets, truth versus fiction in crime stories, fake news, the 15th anniversary of The Wire, Laura’s latest book, Wilde Lake, and David’s new show, The Deuce (coming to Sky Atlantic in September). Phew! There are quite a lot of subjects covered, and it was fascinating to listen to these two talented people talk (they’re two of my personal favourites working in their respective fields).
And, as a bonus, the brilliant Megan Abbott (another of my favourite) gives us the lowdown on her latest boo, You Will Know Me. Well worth a listen, even if I do say so myself.
