Netflix has taken a more global approach this year, funding series that have come from Poland, Denmark and Sweden. We’ve known about German series, Dark, for quite some time now and when news first came out, it was initially compared to Stranger Things because of its supernatural edge. But a new trailer reveals that it isn’t very Stranger Things at all. The series is set in a German town in present day where the disappearance of two young children exposes the double lives and fractured relationships among four families. In 10, hour-long episodes, the story takes on a supernatural twist that ties back to the same town in 1986. We have a trailer, and also a launch date.
It looks very gruesome and very scary indeed. We’ll find out just how scary from 1st December.
