Swedish series Black Lake (or Svartsjön) has engaged a lot of you out there, its paranormal/horror elements meshing nicely with a whodunit of sorts. We’re going to get the final two episodes of the first series on BBC Four on Saturday night, where Hanne, Mette, Johan and co will finally find out what the secrets of the Black Lake ski lodge are. Back in August Swedish TV channel, TV3, confirmed that a second series is in the works. We now know what it will be about.
The new season of Swedish thriller ‘Svartsjön’ aka ‘Black Lake’ will be a prequel and will star upcoming actress Hedda Stiernstedt as Minnie with Filip Berg returning as Johan. The series is currently filming in Gotland, Sweden and is expected to premiere on TV3, Viafree and Viaplay in 2018. Minnie is a young mother with a difficult past. She is struggling to regain custody of her daughter and goes on a retreat for personal development on an island a good way out in the Stockholm archipelago. There she is confronted with her inner demons – quite quickly it becomes clear that there are also external demons to fight against when mysterious things start happening out there on the archipelago.
We’ll see how it pans out, and especially if BBC Four takes up the rights to series two for UK broadcast.
