The 10 Best Crime Dramas This Week (Monday 11th – Sunday 17th December)

I’m now on holiday for a week, but service will be continuing on The Killing Times as normal thanks to Our Andy and some timed posts. Which is just as well because there’s quite a lot happening this week – the end of Witnesses, the start of the final series of The Tunnel (spoilers: it’s good), new French crime drama Vanished By The Lake and ITV’s four-part Bancroft, which is stripped over four days. S2 E7&8/8
Sandra finds herself in the clutches of the killer, who intends to subject both her – and her past lovers – to the same grisly fate that awaited his previous victims. Meanwhile, Audrey Solange’s refusal to talk causes Justine and Max’s investigation to stall, prompting Catherine to make some enquiries of her own.

Tommy finds himself engaged in bloody battle with Luca Changretta and his gang. The family gather to find out what happened, but Lizzie has even greater news to break. Sensing an opportunity to capitalise on his situation, Luca Changretta makes his way to London to present a plan to Alfie Solomons.

Detective Superintendent Elizabeth Bancroft is running an operation to against a vicious gang and adopts dubious methods to bring down the brothers who run it. Meanwhile, DS Katherine Stevens is assigned to a cold murder case and finds that there’s more to it than it seems – and that Bancroft has some secrets in her past that may prove difficult to hide.

During an August heat wave in London, DI Will Wagstaffe and his team investigate a series of horrifying and brutal attacks on people who were accused of being paedophiles, but never convicted.

Alex realises there are just 24 hours until her parents die in a car bombing and chooses a horrified Ray to help her save them. Amid the chaos of a Gay Pride march, she arrests Tim and Caroline in the hope of keeping them safe, but with Lord Scarman due to visit the station a nervous Gene releases all the prisoners, aiming to make a good impression.

10 Vera 
S6 E4/4
A fisherman’s body is found tangled up in a North Sea trawler’s net. Vera and her team investigate with the help of the local harbourmaster, and find the dead man’s sons pointing the finger at the owner of a fish market, with whom they have a long-running feud. Retracing the dead man’s steps, Vera discovers when he drowned and tracks down a waitress who may have been one of the last people to see him alive. However, the case becomes more complicated when a witness runs away and a boat belonging to the dead man’s sister-in-law goes up in flames.

    I hope that Netflix or Hulu picks up Un Bore Mercher. I loved Hinterland, and am eager to see Un Bore Mercher. I’m a fan of Eve Myles’ work, too.
