Our friends in Europe are mere hours away from series four of The Bridge (while us chumps in the UK still await confirmation of the transmission date on BBC Two). We knew that this was going to be the very last run of this outstanding Swedish series, but it still feels funny to see its star, Sofia Helin, talk about the show in the past tense. And she has been talking about it.
After 38 episodes in the leather trousers and the Porsche’s hotseat, Helin told Expressen:
[Her feeling were] It was incredibly mixed. One is that it’s like a concrete suit to be Saga. It is such pressure. So on the one hand it was good to be at the end of a long, long marathon and on the one hand it was a sorrow to leave all dear friends. A sadness to leave Saga. All at the same time, but also a pride that we have done this.
And what did she do straight after filming on The Bridge finished?
What I did after was that I took a long and beautiful summer, which I needed. Me and Thure each received a hammock after the recording – we hung them in our summerhouse and we sent pictures to each other.
Sofia, we salute you. And to all our friends in Europe and Scandinavia about to dive into series four… enjoy!
