The third series of True Detective, HBO/Sky Atlantic’s heavyweight American crime series, is one of the biggie we’re looking forward to. It’s widely acknowledged that after the stellar first series, series two lost its way somewhat, so we’re hoping that series three will get back on track.
We already know that Oscar-winner, Mahershala Ali, is set to star alongside Carmen Ejogo, Stephen Dorff, Scoot McNairy, Mamie Gummer and Ray Fisher, and now two more actors have joined the cast. Josh Hopkins who starred in Quantico, is onboard, as well as South African actress, Jodi Balfour, who crime drama fans will know as Elaine Shepard in Rellik (she was also recently seen in The Crown, playing Jackie Kennedy).
The next instalment tells the story of a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods.
Hopkins will play Jim Dobkins, a private attorney in Fayetteville, Arkansas involved in deposing state police detectives in an ongoing investigation. Balfour will play Lori, long-term ‘love interest’ to Detective Roland West.
