One of the more watchable so-called Nordic Noirs is Danish series Dicte – Crime Reporter.
Starring the excellent Iben Hjejle as crime-reporter-cum-crime-solver we’ve had two series of it here in the UK, while in its native Denmark series three came and went two years ago. It’s based on Elsebeth Egholm’s novels and is set in Aarhus.
So, stand by for series three, which is on the horizon.
At the beginning of season three, Dicte has finally surrendered to love. She has married Bo and quit her job as a reporter, intending to settle down and write a book. But, on a photo shoot in Lebanon, Bo is taken hostage and Dicte, with the help of Wagner, must do everything she can to bring him back home alive. Dicte is forced to return to her job as a reporter and, by necessity, she must also confront her biological father. Anne and Torsten face a new challenge with the birth of their twins and Rose faces an existential choice. Over the course of the season, Dicte becomes tangled up in cases involving assisted suicide, gambling addiction, jealousy and stalkings.
