In this Iceland Noir special, we’re joined by Lilja Sigurðardóttir and Quentin Bates.
Lilja Sigurðardóttir was born in Iceland in 1972, and has written six books, two of which – Snare and Trap – have been translated into English by Quentin Bates and have been released in the UK by Orenda books. Lilja is also an award-winning screenwriter.
Quentin Bates is a writer and journalist who made the move into fiction with the first of a series of crime novels set in present-day Iceland. His main character is Hvalvik’s police sergeant, Gunnhildur.
Together they talk about Icelandic crime and the role of translation in crime fiction.
