Icelandic crime series, Stella Blomkvist, has been around for a while, but so far it hasn’t made its way to the UK.
Now it seems someone has bought it.
According to star Heida Reed’s own Instagram account, the series is on its way, but no broadcaster has been announced. Could it be BBC Four? Or All4/Walter Presents? Or even Netflix? We’ll have to wait and see.
Based on a series of first-person novels penned by the pseudonymous Stella Blómkvist, a hard-nosed lawyer who takes on mysterious murder cases, the series delves into the murky waters of Icelandic politics, recently in the news in the aftermath of the “Panama Papers” scandal. Heida Reed – who British audiences will know well from Poldark – takes the lead. The first trailer is after the jump.
It’s been likened to Killing Eve.
