Netflix to adapt Sarah Pinborough’s Behind Her Eyes

British crime novelist, Sarah Pinborough, caused quite a stir in 2017 with her novel, Behind Her Eyes. A terrific, prolific writer of diverse stories in different genres, it has been Pinborough’s domestic noirs tinged with horror and the paranormal that have seen her jump up the best-sellers’ lists.

And now, Behind Her Eyes will be adapted for television by Netflix, with production set to start this spring.

The novel follows a single mother stuck in a modern-day rut who begins an affair with a successful and charming man she sees in a bar, only to soon strike up a friendship with his beautiful wife. But as she becomes drawn into the orbit of this seemingly picture-perfect marriage, she starts questioning the terrible secrets both may be hiding.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Left Bank Pictures – the company behind The Crown – will adapt and Steve Lightfoot (The Punisher, Hannibal) will be showrunner. There’s no news on casting yet, so we’ll bring you that as soon as we have it.

UPDATE: We managed to grab a quick word with Sarah, who said: “I’m so excited to have such a great writer adapting Behind Her Eyes – I’m a massive fan of Hannibal – and I have such admiration and respect for all the team at Left Bank, and am really happy that they have such faith in the book.”
