We always like to keep abreast of what might be coming in the pipeline, and we’re hearing that British author, Will Dean, is the latest to be plucked from the crime fiction firmament by a TV production company.
Dean, a friend of The Killing Times, hit the headlines with the first in his Nordic Noir, Tuva Moodyson series, Dark Pines, garnering rave reviews. Set in Sweden, Tuva, a deaf reporter on a small-time local paper, is looking for the story that could make her career. When mutilated bodies are found in the woods, Tuva must outwit the killer before she becomes the final victim. First, she must face her demons and venture far into the deep, dark woods if she wants to stand any chance of getting the hell out of small-time Gavrik.
A spokesperson from Lionsgate, the company behind Orange is the New Black and Mad Men, said: “Dark Pines has it all – an original, gripping crime story, an evocative, cinematic setting and, most importantly, in Tuva Moodyson a vivid, complex and compelling character whom viewers will love.”
Dean said: “I’m thrilled with Dark Pines being optioned by Lionsgate – it’s a dream come true. I’m a huge fan of Mad Men and Orange is the New Black so this is incredibly exciting.”
