HBO releases new trailer for Lovecraft Country

With conversations about racism that are happening around the world thanks to the heinous brutalisation of the African American community in America, HBO’s latest series looks especially topical.

Created by Misha Green (Underground) and executive produced by Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams, Lovecraft Country follows a trio of black men and woman on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of Freeman’s missing father (the peerless Michael Kenneth Williams). The journey begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from an H.P. Lovecraft paperback.

Yes, there are elements of the supernatural in this story.

As you can see from the new trailer…

It’s based on the novel by Matt Ruff, and stars Jonathan Majors, Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Courtney B. Vance.

It’s slated for an August release Stateside, so expect Sky Atlantic to broadcast the 10-episodes soon after.

First sentence needs correction, not “of” but “towards”… “With conversations about racism that are happening around the world thanks to the heinous brutalization towards the African American community in America…”
