One of our favourite Nordic Noirs – Sorjonen (or Bordertown in its English-language iteration) – is coming back.
The last time we saw titular detective Kari Sorjonen was in the TV movie, The Mural Murders on Netflix at the tail end of 2021.
Now we’re reading that a new, three-part miniseries will air on Finnish state broadcaster YLE on Sunday 6th March.
Producer Fisher King tells us that each 50-minute episode will be based on the aforementioned TV movie, but will contain “new and exciting storylines” for the fans.
The official synopsis from YLE reads: “Crime investigator Kari Sorjonen (Ville Virtanen) returns to the world of crime when, in the middle of the most difficult crisis of his life, he is given the task of solving a hate crime that shakes the whole country.”
Furthermore, the website Etalä-Saimaa says that series will contain “40 minutes of material not shown in the film”.
No news yet whether the series will make it outside of Finland, but we’ll be keeping an eye on it.
