REVIEW Shetland (S6 E6/6)

Throughout this series, I’ve been trying to figure out a unifying theme that has bound these episodes together. It really has been all over the place in terms of tone, texture and plot strands, but now we know who killed Galbraith, Eamonn Gauldie and Marie-Ann – and poor Sister Carolyn – I can safely say…

REVIEW Shetland (S6 E5/6)

After the last two episodes, where the Logan Creggan storyline (literally) exploded, I hoped that this series might calm down a little bit and get back to what it does best. And in many respects it did. With that emotional Creggan storyline out of the way, and Creggan as a suspect now out of the…

REVIEW Shetland (S6 E4/6)

Oh Shetland, what have you done? What have you become? This fourth episode ended with a twist… and it was a twist I saw coming. Throughout this series, as you would expect in any crime drama, suspects have been built up and processed and eliminated along the way. One suspect – Logan Creggan – has…

REVIEW Shetland (S6 E3/6)

As this third episode ended, the first thing I thought was, “blimey, the BBC has thrown a bit of money at this series of Shetland“. Not only have we had a scene staged in a decompression chamber, but now we had a scene right at the end of this instalment that was right out of…

REVIEW Shetland (S6 E2/6)

Halfway through episode two of this new series of Shetland, Jimmy Perez looks exasperatedly at the witness board and bemoans the fact that they have a bunch of suspects that have no connection to each other. I knew the feeling. As good as it is to have Shetland back, I get the feeling that the…

REVIEW Shetland (S6 E1/6)

Isn’t it strange. The bleaker and more stark the landscape is – and the less populated an island or country is – the more comforting a crime drama seems to be. Take Shetland for example. Now on to its sixth series, this hardy perennial is set on those beautiful, windswept islands north of Scotland, and…

We knew that series six of Shetland was just around the corner, and now BBC One has confirmed its start date. The forthcoming new series centres on the doorstep murder of a prominent local figure, a case which strikes at the heart of the Shetland Isles and its people. As Perez and his team uncover…

Shetland resumes filming series six and seven

We do love a bit of Shetland here at The Killing Times. And the good news is that series six and seven have resumed filming on the islands. Director Isabelle Sieb took to social media to let fans know that production had begun. Showing an image of clipboards in the background, she said: “Gearing up…

SHETLAND Series to resume filming season six and seven in April

BBC One favourite Shetland will resume filming in April. The drama, starring Douglas Henshall, will continue to film back-to-back series on the Scottish island. Award-winning writer of the novels, Ann Cleeves, quote-tweeted a message from the revered Shetland Library, who celebrated the fact Henshall and the crew were coming back to island. Cleeves said: “Well,…
