Walter Presents announces Swiss supernatural crime drama Anomalia

Walter Presents has announced the arrival of another new crime series, this time from Switzerland.

Anomalia will premiere at the end of this month on Channel 4’s streaming service, All4. And the eight-episode series has got a touch of the supernatural to it.

Having recently separated from her husband, neurosurgeon Valérie Rossier moves back to her native region of Gruyère with her son Lucas. Upon taking up a new position at an exclusive clinic working under her former teacher and renowned professor Wassermann, strange events occur through which she gradually discovers her healing powers, starting with her believing she has run someone over. Secrets are slowly revealed about her true heritage and her family’s tragic history. Can rectifying an error from the past influence the present?

Anomalia will debut in the UK via Walter Presents on All4, from 29th April.

The Crimson Rivers season 3 announced by Walter Presents

Detective Pierre Niémans and his partner Camille Delauney are to return for a third season of French crime drama The Crimson Rivers on More4/Walter Presents.

The series kicks off with a double episode as they investigate a series of gruesome murders in remote regions of France.  

In this seven-episode third instalment, the pair is confronted with more complex cases of atrocious brutality.

They discover a horrific double murder in the church of a small Belgian village which takes them to the sinister world of neo-pagan rituals and leather tannery. The duo tracks down a serial killer who chooses his next victim based on the order of the zodiac calendar. They must also stop a psychopath threatening to infest all of Paris with a deadly plague. And when an inmate is severely injured and Niémans ends up on the other side of the prison wall, Delauney must risk everything to rescue her mentor. Will their bond remain strong enough to keep their sanity?

NORDIC NOIR Walter Presents announces Snow Angels

All4/Channel 4’s foreign-language drama brand – Walter Presents – has announced a new Swedish crime drama.

Snow Angels (Snöänglar) will play out on All4 from Friday 11th March.

The eight-part series tells the story of a Sweden paralysed by a heavy snowstorm the night before Christmas Eve.

A five-week-old baby mysteriously disappears from his home in a suburb of Stockholm. The boy’s parents search desperately for an explanation, but his mother, Jenni, who was under the influence of strong sleeping pills, can’t remember what happened the night before.

When news of the disappearance reaches Alice, a seasoned police investigator, she suspects a crime has been committed. The revelation that a paediatric nurse filed a complaint about Jenni with Social Services only heightens suspicions about the family. A massive police investigation is launched and Alice becomes deeply engrossed in the case, determined to uncover the truth and find Lucas before it is too late.

Walter Presents announces Polish season for summer 2021

Walter Presents has announced a Polish season of content for summer 2021.

The first in its season – spans June to August – is The Defence, which follows a well-regarded lawyer who agrees to help her friends when their baby goes missing.

Joanna Chylka is a capable, uncompromising, courageous and rebellious lawyer in a legal world full of men who don’t give in to anything. When three-year-old Nikola Szlezyngier disappears without a trace and the police find no evidence of kidnapping, the child’s parents become the main suspects. Desperate, they decide to contact Chylka, an old friend, who agrees to undertake their defence despite other cases piling up on her desk and mountains of evidence indicating the couple’s guilt. Will her legal team manage to find the real guilty party, or has the truth been under their noses this whole time?

Adapted from a renowned novel by Remigiusz Mróz, The Defence stars award-winning actress Magdalena Cielecka and Piotr Zurawski.

It starts on Friday 4th June.

Walter Presents announces Polish, Czech and Ukrainian series The Pleasure Principle

Written by the same team behind hit thriller The Border, police departments in three separate countries must work together to solve the murders of  three young women in The Pleasure Principle.

The Polish, Czech and Ukrainian series is coming to the Uk thanks to the Walter Presents brand and All4.

In three cities with a glorious past, Odessa, Warsaw and Prague, three young women are murdered.

Within days, their bodies are found, each showing the same brutal signs of violence. One thing is clear: they are somehow connected. The three separate police departments’ detectives soon find themselves having to work together whilst balancing their own personal issues; Ukrainian militia captain Serhij has a troubled past, the Polish super intendant Maria fights for her position in a male-dominated police department and the experienced Czech detective Viktor has to put off early retirement.

But they are dealing with a deranged serial killer operating on an international level. Soon, they realize that all the victims were aspiring models and actresses. Does the murderer hunt his prey in the entertainment industry? The trail leads to shady businessmen, their lawyers, corrupt politicians, and professional killers… but what connects Odessa, Warsaw and Prague?

Walter Presents names transmission date for Ice Cold Murders: Rocco Schiavone

An unorthodox Italian police commissioner finds himself far from his beloved Rome when he is transferred to a mountain station where a murderer is at large in Ice Cold Murders: Rocco Schiavone.

The series has found a home in the UK thanks to Walter Presents.

And now we know when the six-part series will be on.

After getting on the wrong side of the wrong people in Rome, Deputy Police Chief Rocco Schiavone (Antonio Manzini) is exiled to Aosta, a small, touristy alpine town far from the cobbled streets and fritto misto of his beloved city.

Rocco’s talent for solving crimes is matched only by his disdain for the rules and his eye for a beautiful woman. But when a mangled body is found on the ski slopes, he soon discovers that his Roman sophistication – not to mention his expensive Roman shoes – are of little help in this dangerous and unfamiliar mountain landscape. With blood on the black run, rumours of mafia involvement and a murderer at large, Deputy Police Chief Schiavone is about to find himself skating on very thin ice…

NORDIC NOIR Walter Presents acquires Cry Wolf for the UK

Broadcasting brand Walter Presents has acquired Danish psychological thriller, Cry Wolf (Ulven kommer).

The eight-episode series tells the story of 14-year-old Holly and her family, that is torn apart by her school essay detailing violence in the home.

Dedicated social worker Lars (The Killing’s Bjarne Henriksen) is assigned to the case. Convinced by Holly’s story, he places Holly and her seven-year-old brother, Theo, in foster care. However, when central family members – including Holly’s stepfather – claim that the essay is nothing more than teenage rebellion, Lars’s sense of certainty begins to fray at the edges.

Holly’s parents launch a full-scale legal attack against Lars and their own daughter. Meanwhile, video footage of Lars performing a heavy-handed social services operation is shared on social media, turning private misery into public outrage.

In a sudden role reversal, Lars quickly finds himself on the receiving end of negative publicity. Scrambling to rebuild his case before the final court ruling – with or without the help of a remorseful Holly – several central questions remain: Are children always to be trusted? How much emotional turmoil can one family take? And who is really telling the truth?

Thou Shalt Not Kill confirmed for third series on Walter Presents

Thou Shalt Not Kill is returning to Walter Presents via All4 this spring.

The Italian series features Valeria (Miriam Leone) solve the darkest crimes across Turin whilst dealing with her own family tragedies.

After the death of her mother and her sister’s accident, Valeria decides to halt her investigation into her family and focus on herself and her work. However, Lombardi and Andrea have other ideas…

Meanwhile, the body of an 18-year-old girl named Margherita is found near an apiary with her wrists cut off. It turns out that Margherita is Barbara’s twin sister, another girl who died a few months earlier when she committed suicide by jumping into a well nearby. Valeria’s investigations lead to the discovery that the victim died of a head fracture and that the apparent suicide was staged to deflect the investigation. The police force has their suspicions but Valeria’s killer instincts tell her that sometimes you have to dig deeper to find out the truth.
