Netflix’s Harry Hole adaptations are on their way, and now we know who will play the iconic, titular detective.
Tobias Santelmann – who we’ve seen before in the likes of Those Who Kill – has been cast as the troubled, obsessive Norwegian detective.
Also in the cast is Joel Kinnaman who will play Tom Waaler, a corrupt cop and Hole’s long-time nemesis within the Oslo police department. Pia Tjelta, meanwhile, will play Hole’s romantic partner Rakel Fauke.
The first season of Detective Hole is based on Nesbo’s novel The Devil’s Star, which tells the story of the murder of a young woman, who is found murdered in her flat with a tiny red diamond in the shape of a five-pointed star found behind her eyelid. Detective Harry Hole is assigned to the case, alongside his long-time adversary Tom Waaler, and initially wants no part in it. But Harry is already on his final warning and has little alternative but to drag himself out of his alcoholic stupor when it becomes apparent that Oslo has a serial killer on its hands.
