English-language Department Q series gets cast confirmation

Feature-length Danish adaptations of Jussi Adler-Olsen’s Department Q novels proved to be a hit on BBC Four. Now, Netflix has confirmed the cast for its English-language adaptations.

Matthew Goode will play DCI Carl Morck in the series. After a violent incident turns Morck’s life upside down, the emotionally scarred detective is charged with setting up a cold case unit, Department Q, upon his return to work.

At first, the disillusioned cop is happy to waste his days away, but his detective instincts are ultimately reawakened and his new department becomes a magnet for a crew of misfits and mavericks.

Set in Edinburgh, the cast also includes Mark Bonnar, Shirley Henderson, Jamie Sives and Kate Dickie.

More news as we get it.

Jamie Sives again! But no Phyllis Logan?! Plus the wonderful Alexej Manvelov this time playing a Syrian apparently. Can’t wait!

  2. l saw the Originals when they first came out and they were superb,l cannot see how these remakes can improve them.It was exactly the same scenario with the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, the Originals were superb and the US remake was dire and although they had the rights to make the next two they were never made.I am not a fan of remakes so l cant see these Department Q being a disaster.
