BBC Two acquires The Turkish Detective

Lst December, we informed you that British author Barbara Nadel’s The Turkish Detective novels were being adapted for TV.

It debuted in Turkey on Paramount+ in December, but the series did not have a British broadcaster. Until now.

The Bookseller reports that the series has been picked up by BBC Two and will premiere later in 2024.

The series tells the stories of Detective Inspector Çetin Ä°kmen, a chain-smoking and hard-drinking detective on the Istanbul police force, and his colleagues Mehmet Süleyman, Balthazar Cohen, and Armenian pathologist Arto Sarkissian.

Haluk Bilginer stars as Ä°kmen. Additionally, Ethan Kai plays DI Mehmet Suleyman and Yasemin Kay Allen plays Detective Ayse Farsakoglu.

The BBC has yet to confirm the acquisition.
